Tek Zeno/Jacqueline Derby, Ph.D.

Tek Zeno is the Second Life screen name me,  Jacqui Derby, Ph.D.  I am an online instructor in the areas of Educational Technology, Teacher Professional Development & Art History. 

I know that sounds like a strange combination but I began my academic career in the visual arts field teaching middle school art and moved into the educational technology field as I became fascinated with educational technology.  I have always enjoyed “gadgets” so it was an easy transition.  I got my start using trial and error methods in my own classroom but later was trained as an Intel Master Teacher and received my Ph.D. in Educational Technology where I looked at how educators are using Second Life for informal professional development.

During my academic career the only thing that has remained constant is change.  I only wonder what the future will hold……
